About Mel

In my professional career, I have mentored thousands of families but my real journey, the journey that has led me here, was becoming a parent myself.  When I had my first child, almost 20 years ago, I was like most new mothers, filled with optimism at how wonderful this journey would be.  I was not prepared for the challenges that lay ahead and how those would make me feel.  I certainly was most unprepared for the profound effect these challenges and confusing feelings would have on my own mental health and identity as a person.

Why I Do What I Do…

I strongly believe that every woman should have the information, and be supported in their decisions, to experience birth and motherhood in a way that they choose. I hope to support women, and advocate their individual decisions on what they feel is best for them, and their families, based on their personal circumstances and the information available.

When a woman feels empowered in her birth experience, and has continuity of care during her transition to motherhood, this has a positive impact on her health and well-being – as well as on her relationship with her baby.

My dream and vision for All Things Birth & Beyond is to provide a safe & trusted organisation for parents to access any service that they could possibly want or need.  Having a baby is about so much more than just Labour & Birth, & there are many moments along the journey where support can make all the difference.  Keep reading & get to know my incredible team…

Mel

Claire

I’m a mum of 5 and have been a Doula for 10 years, a volunteer Leader (breastfeeding counsellor) with La Leche League since 2003, sitting on LLL’s Council of Directors for 4 years. I also run my own successful private practice as a Lactation Consultant.

Emily

As a caterer, I have seen what a nourishing effect a wonderful warm meal can have on a person’s overall wellbeing.  All Things Birth & Beyond brings you this through ‘Nourishing the Family’ service.  I am passionate about the benefits – physically, psychologically & emotionally – that food brings us as human beings.  Visit our FOOD page to find out more!

I also offer the ‘Parenting with Human Design’ package.  Human Design, the Science of Differentiation, can offer parents a new way to navigate their way in what often seems to be a world that celebrates a ‘one-size-fits-all’ strategy for the parenting and education of our kids. The truth is no child is the same!  Visit our SERVICES page to find out more!

Meghan

Meghan Rhodes is a qualified herbal medicine practitioner and the founder of Rhodes Roots & Remedies. She blends Western Herbal Medicine & Ayurvedic approaches in her private consultations, providing bespoke support for adults, children and infants. Meghan’s practice is rooted in the belief that we must remember, reclaim and relearn our knowledge of plant medicine, bringing the support of our own health back into our families and homes for a sustainable future for ourselves and the planet.

Cathy

Following three positive home water births of my own, I’m a big advocate for couples being supported in their options to birth at home.  I’ve been running a birth pool hire service in North Yorkshire for ten years & am very happy to chat through any questions you might have around organising a home water birth.

Daniela

A Reiki Teacher & Practitioner for over 15 years, mother of one.  I have direct experience of how Reiki can help during pre-natal and post-natal times, having used Reiki as a spiritual, meditative & healing practice from conception, to birth, and at present.  Through Reiki, mum’s intuition and awareness become sharper to allow for a deeper connection with baby.  Nurturing for both mum and baby, it is helpful during teething, colic, and sleepless nights.  Rieki can help mum access her inner truth, releasing expectations, to bring clairy to her needs and those of her baby.

Emma

I am an experienced Birth Doula, Therapeutic Harp Facilitator, Hypnobirthing Practitioner & Counsellor.  Giving birth is a sacred event & I am honored to support you in having the most amazing pregnancy possible as you navigate your journey.

Claire

I am a Holistic sleep coach and Parent & Baby Wellbeing Expert. I have worked with families for the past 18 years in many roles as a nursery nurse, maternity nurse and childminder before setting up my own parent and baby hub and consultancy business.

Bee

My name is Bee and I am from Hungary. I completed a general nursing diploma and went to the Semmelweis University  to be a Midwife. In 1992, I was lucky enough to learn from István Marton, an OB Professor and absolute pioneer in ‘family birth’, holistic birth, water birth, giving birth in any comfortable position, delivering twins on a birthing chair with candle light in a dark room. He showed me a completely different approach what was known before within hospital walls. When I finished University, I joined Agnes Gereb, who was also an exceptional person within the bureaucratic, conservative medical world. I have learned a lot from her. I’ve grown up in a very open minded and strongly spiritual Family, I have a holistic approach for everything and everyone.

Viki

Hello, I am Viki. I am a Subconscious Transformation Coach.

When I became a mum, it was the most transformative experience of my life.  But the birth of my son was traumatic, and my postnatal recovery even more so.  That’s when I discovered the power of subconscious tranformation to heal emotional and physical wounds – and fast!

Having a baby can be traumatic, and sometimes we need help to let go of that trauma so that we can be truly free to create the life we want for ourselves.. and our children.

Helena

I am Helena, a Specialist Women’s Health physiotherapist.  I qualified as a Chartered physiotherapist in 2002. I offer treatment for prolapse, bladder and bowel issues, pelvic floor problems, tummy muscle separation, pregnancy and post partum conditions, lactation concerns, pelvic pain and post surgical treatment. I am a certified Mummy MOT physiotherapist and I also offers a bespoke perimenopause / menopause service. I am fully registered with the HCPC.

Chloe Fletcher

We feel very fortunate that Mel was our doula and recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, friendly and positive support person for your antenatal, birth or post‐natal care.

Dr Pegine Walrad and Dr Robert Rothenberg

I would highly recommend Mel as she is a kind, caring and supportive person, who’s knowledge I found to be very useful throughout. She made me feel like she was there any time for questions I had about Albert and what I should and shouldn’t be doing!
