About Mel

In my professional career, I have mentored thousands of families but my real journey, the journey that has led me here, was becoming a parent myself.  When I had my first child, almost 20 years ago, I was like most new mothers, filled with optimism at how wonderful this journey would be.  I was not prepared for the challenges that lay ahead and how those would make me feel.  I certainly was most unprepared for the profound effect these challenges and confusing feelings would have on my own mental health and identity as a person.

Why I Do What I Do…

I strongly believe that every woman should have the information, and be supported in their decisions, to experience birth and motherhood in a way that they choose. I hope to support women, and advocate their individual decisions on what they feel is best for them, and their families, based on their personal circumstances and the information available.

When a woman feels empowered in her birth experience, and has continuity of care during her transition to motherhood, this has a positive impact on her health and well-being – as well as on her relationship with her baby.

Meet The Team…

Mel

I’m the founder of All Things Birth & Beyond – a mum of two, Doula UK full-spectrum Doula, BFI accredited BFC, Holistic Sleep Coach (Dip), Advanced Birth & Beyond Practitioner (BA. Hons, UofW), Reiki Master, & trauma-informed Birth & Matrescence Coach

Claire

I’m a mum of 5 and have been a Doula for 10 years, a volunteer Leader (breastfeeding counsellor) with La Leche League since 2003, sitting on LLL’s Council of Directors for 4 years. I also run my own successful private practice as a Lactation Consultant.

Emily

I am passionate about the benefits – physically, psychologically & emotionally – that food brings us as human beings.  As a chef & caterer, I have seen what a nourishing effect a wonderful warm meal can have on a person’s overall wellbeing & am bringing this to pregnant & new mothers through All Things Birth & Beyond’s ‘Nourishing the Family’ service.

Meghan

I am a herbal medicine practitioner, blending Western Herbal Medicine & Ayurvedic approaches to provide bespoke herbal support for every client.  I have trained for many years under the top herbalists in the UK & Ireland, including Anne McIntyre & Nikki Darrell.  As a new mother, I have a special interest in supporting women on their journey of motherhood.

Cathy

Following three positive home water births of my own, I’m a big advocate for couples being supported in their options to birth at home.  I’ve been running a birth pool hire service in North Yorkshire for ten years & am very happy to chat through any questions you might have around organising a home water birth.

Daniela

I am a Reiki Teacher & Practitioner, mother of a 9 year old girl, with direct experience of how Reiki can help during pre-natal and post-natal times, having used Reiki as a spiritual & healing therapy from conception, to birth, and at present.  Bringing in stillness, through self-healing & grounding meditations or treatments, mum’s intuition and awareness become sharper to allow for a deeper connection with baby.  Nurturing for both mum and baby, it is helpful during teething, colic, and sleepless nights.  Reiki can help mum access her inner truth, releasing expectations, to bring clarity to her needs and those of her baby.

Kirsty

Kirsty has over 10 years experience of working with adults and children, supporting them through trauma, loss, and separation both 1:1 and in group settings – as well as training in yoga for children and Mindfulness.

INFORMED + SUPPORTED = EMPOWERED

We highly recommend Melody. She is an incredible doula who genuinely cares for others and wants to help families to have their wishes for their pregnancy and birth become a reality.

Tracy and Rob Oliver

I truly believe [Mel] played a massive part in helping me have one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was just incredible and I don’t think that would have been possible without you. Your work is amazing – THANK YOU!!

Chloe Fletcher

We feel very fortunate that Mel was our doula and recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, friendly and positive support person for your antenatal, birth or post‐natal care.

Dr Pegine Walrad and Dr Robert Rothenberg

I would highly recommend Mel as she is a kind, caring and supportive person, who’s knowledge I found to be very useful throughout. She made me feel like she was there any time for questions I had about Albert and what I should and shouldn’t be doing!
