The holiday season is full of joy—but it can also amplify emotional overwhelm, especially for those of us healing from trauma. Between family dynamics, high expectations, and life’s everyday stressors, it’s no wonder we feel stretched thin.
Emotional triggers often come from old wounds or heightened stress. Recognizing them is the first step to managing them.
Here are three tools to support you through the holiday season:
1️⃣ Breathe Through It: Inhale deeply for 4 counts, hold for 2, and exhale slowly for 6 counts. This sends a signal to your nervous system that you are safe.
2️⃣ Ground Yourself: Try placing your feet flat on the floor, noticing their connection to the ground. Visualize roots growing deep into the earth, anchoring you.
3️⃣ Release Through Writing: Take 5 minutes to journal what you’re feeling—without judgment. Sometimes putting emotions on paper helps you process them.
Remember, you don’t have to carry the weight of the holidays alone. These small, intentional practices can bring clarity, peace, and presence into your life.
